PRESENTATION: Dialectical Behavior Therapy was developed by Marsha Linehan, PhD. to help individuals who struggle with emotional, behavioral, and interpersonal chaos and dysregulation. DBT is a cognitive behavioral approach that helps individuals create a more stable life. Learning Objectives:
Participants will understand the theory which lead to the unique approach of DBT.
Participants will learn the targets established in treatment in addition to strategies for managing behaviors which “get in the way” of effective therapy.
Participants will learn how to teach and incorporate the key skills of DBT (Core Mindfulness, Interpersonal Effectiveness, Distress Tolerance, and Emotion Regulation)
PRESENTER: Dr. Laurie Brodeur, a licensed clinical psychologist, was trained by Dr. Linehan when DBT was first developed almost 30 years ago.
