PRESENTATION: This training is designed for the SUD professional to meet the 6-hour minimum HIV/AIDS training requirement for both the MLADC/LADC, CRSW and CPS credentials. The goals of this workshop are to: increase knowledge about HIV progression and treatment, increase understanding about NH HIV/AIDS EPI profile, and increase awareness of the correlation between HIV/STD/HEP (A, B&C) and TB. The workshop will also address the utilization of Motivational Enhancement Therapy and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy in working with clients at high risk for HIV infection and secondary transmission. Particular attention will be paid to the link between protentional increased infection rate and the current rise of methamphetamine use. Participants will: gain a basic knowledge about the HIV/AIDS epidemic and will be able to relay this information to their clients; learn strategies to work with their high-risk clients utilizing harm reduction techniques; gain increased knowledge about the importance of integrating services of Substance Abuse, Mental Health, HIV/AIDS, housing providers and other community resources to better serve their clients.
