Ethics and Resilience: Organizational Leadership to Advance Provider Well-Being Pt.1

  • Reality Check 17 Turnpike Road, Jaffrey, NH Jaffrey, NH, 03452 United States (map)

The global pandemic has added a new perspective on the topics of compassion fatigue and burnout. The challenges we are facing in today’s “new normal” asks each of us to dig deeper for strategies to navigate increased ethical risks while continuing to provide safe services for our clients all while maintaining productive and healthy work environments.

In 2019, the World Health Organization announced it had updated their definition of burnout in its 2022 revised handbook of diseases, International Classification of Diseases, and specifically tied burnout to "chronic workplace stress that has not been successfully managed."  In 2019, NHADACA joined a national movement to address these challenges by focusing on promoting clinician and provider well-being.

This 2-part interactive workshop series will briefly review the research behind this movement and outline steps for becoming a Network Organization.  This series is an opportunity for individual practitioners and leadership teams to begin and/or continue this important conversation.   Part 1 reviews the research behind this national movement as well as local data validating the importance of working from the inside out to create solutions.  Testimonies from others involved with this movement will be offered to help define the benefits of being involved.  Small group activity will include discussion and action plan development specific to your agency, group or practice.

As a result of attending Part 1of this training, participants will:

review the evidence & history;

understand the links between provider well-being, workplace culture, client safety and quality care;

describe the role of the Network Organization;

being to look at Organization Commitment Statements; and

identify next steps and what to expect from Part 2.

Part Two is an action-oriented presentation designed to assist participants with the mechanics of writing a Commitment Statement and becoming a Network Organization.
