This seminar will explore how to integrate stages of change and motivational communication strategies into group therapy. Readiness to change among group members differs and creates heterogeneity in every group. A focus on stages of change and the critical processes needed to address stage tasks can help group leaders understand this diversity and develop strategies to promote conversations about change more effectively. Participants will be able to:
Understand and assess differences in motivation across different types of change (initiation, modification and cessation)
learn strategies to promote group conversations that empower participants to address changing behaviors that can help resolve current problems.
Advance their group skills in bringing about transformational effects.
